Sachin Tendulkar is excited as he has
been presented with an opportunity to visit the Formula One racing. He
has been personally invited by F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone to watch
India’s first Formula One Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit
in Greater Noida.
Sachin Tendulkar is mainly happy that F1
has lastly arrived in India, as he felt there is a huge fan base for F1
in India. He was once admitted in BCC as saying, “I hope that it
happens because there are plenty of Formula 1 fans in India. It is a new
sport that is picking up very rapidly and the new generation is
hooked.”
“I’m really excited about this event. I
was invited by Bernie Ecclestone (Formula One boss) on the last tour of
England,” Tendulkar told at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Bandra
Kurla Complex ground. The batting maestro is recovering from a toe
injury that has kept him out of the on-going India vs England one-day
series.
Tendulkar has been watching the
race-driving sport since 2000. He said, “What you see on television is
far different from what one sees at the venue,” said Tendulkar, who has
been to quite a few races. “The noise and speed levels are 15 to 20 per
cent greater than what one can imagine… it’s great”.
The little master had an opportunity to
meet some of the F1 legends during India’s tour to England in 2002 when
he was presented with the keys of the Ferrari car by none other than F1
legend Michael Schumacher.
Sachin cherished those moments. “It is a
great feeling to be at a race, watch the speeding cars and the turns
that the drivers take. Year before last, I had the delight of witnessing
the British Grand Prix with Sir Frank Williams and Sir Jackie Stewart.
Just the three of us gazed that race together,” said Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar has witnessed the Spanish Grand prix, British Grand Prix, European Grand Prix in the past.
