Congratulations to Sachin Tendulkar on his scintillating new achievement and record: 2000 runs in 40 World Cup matches.

He is the first batsman in the world to achieve this distinction.

It is a joy to watch Tendular bat. The grace with which he moves his feet, arms and bat to strike the ball, is reminiscent of a fierce panther striking, silently, strongly, but always surely. His play, body and stroke movements are a delight to watch, even when he does not score runs.

We are indeed blessed that we can watch great art in action, when Sachin bats or Roger Federer plays tennis, or Tiger Woods plays golf. It is a sheer pleasure to watch their fluid movements, footwork and strokes. There is complete economy of effort, movement and energy. There is not one superfluous, wasted movement or moment. Whether these master sportsmen score a run or point is not relevant. Their play is sheer rhythmic music. It is perfection, in action. Sachin Tendulkar is a versatile and indefatigable player, who comes once in many generations. Those who wish to make cricket a career should study every movement of his. His study of the game, concentration and self-introspection are a great inspiration.

Despite his towering achievements and manifold records, Sachin continues to be a very humble, modest, unassuming and self-effacing personality. Truly, just as a really great person does not need a visiting card, a great player does not need to make too much noise.

Keep on Sachin, we will always watch you and cheer you!
